Grand Prix racing numbers
75 – Stefan Bradl has scored 75 points from the first nine races since moving up to the MotoGP class – this is already the highest number of points scored in a single season by a German rider in MotoGP. The record was held by Alex Hofmann who scored 65 points in the 2007 season.
33 years – On race-day at the US Grand Prix it will be exactly 33 years to the day that Randy Mamola finished second at the 1979 Finnish Grand Prix at Imatra to become the youngest-ever rider to finish on the podium in the premier-class. The record of 19 years and 260 days still stands to this day.
Grand Prix racing numbers
Following two weekends of action-packed racing, the MotoG grid heads south to the Gran Premio d’Italia TIM at Mugello for the final race of the triple-header. Having encountered mixed weather and high-profile crashes in both of the preceding races, the teams and riders will no-doubt be hoping for an incident-free and sunny weekend in Italy.
–Álvaro Bautista has qualified on pole for the first time in the MotoGP class. His previous best was 4th fastest in qualifying at Phillip Island last year when he was promoted to the front row due to Jorge Lorenzo withdrawing from the race.
-In second place on the grid is Ben Spies – his best qualifying result since the Indianapolis Grand Prix last year.
–Casey Stoner, who takes the final place on the front row, won at Silverstone last year by 15 seconds.

It is with great pleasure that Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd can confirm the extension of Jorge Lorenzo’s contract to ride for the Yamaha Factory Racing MotoGP Team for 2013 and 2014.
Jorge Lorenzo joined Yamaha in 2008, achieving fourthplace in his first season and claiming the Rookie of the Year title. He was then second in 2009, went on to become MotoGP World Champion in 2010 and was second again in 2011.
Lorenzo currently leads the 2012 MotoGP World Championship by 20 points having taken three victories from the first five completed races of the 18 race series.

On a weekend that featured tremendous races in all three MotoGP™ classes, it was Yamaha Factory Racing’s Jorge Lorenzo who stormed to victory in the premier-class at the Gran Premi Aperol de Catalunya in front of his home crowd ahead of Dani Pedrosa and Andrea Dovizioso.
After a wet morning warm-up, the field got away in dry conditions this afternoon, and it was Repsol Honda Team’s Pedrosa who got the holeshot from the second row, hotly pursued by Yamaha´s Ben Spies, who also had a tremendous start from fourth. Lorenzo pushed his way past Repsol Honda’s Casey Stoner into third, as the whole grid was tightly bunched in the first lap.
Casey Stoner announced yesterday that he will withdraw from MotoGP at the end of the present season, something that was published two weeks ago in a spanish magazine but even Casey said the opposite when was asked about it.
Becasuse of this, his definitive withdraw announcement was a completely shock in the paddock of Le Mans. Everybody in the press room was talking about except the ones who were joking the past two weeks because of the failed of the spanish magazine.
Anyway, the Stoner’s withdraw will be an irreparably loss and, without any doubt, we will miss his incredible riding style.

99 – Spain have taken 99 victories in the intermediate-class of Grand Prix racing. Eighty five of these wins have been in the 250cc class and fourteen in Moto2.
38 – Great rivals Jorge Lorenzo and Dani Pedrosa have both won 38 Grand Prix races across all three classes.
25 – Julian Simon celebrates his 25th birthday on the Tuesday before the Qatar Grand Prix weekend.
19 – Czech Moto3 rider Jakub Kornfeil celebrates his 19th birthday on the Sunday at the Qatar Grand Prix.
This weekend, the famous motor racing circuit of Jerez, sees the return for the first round of the CEV Buckler National motorcycling Championship. A total of 22 nationalities will be representing their countries at the first meeting of the season, with a high number of the riders coming from other continents. The lineup of riders from countries, outside of the European border, highlights that the CEV Buckler competition is recognized and respected as a high level competition.
After winning the 2011 CEV Buckler series, Moto2 rider Jordi Torres will return to defend his title. 125GP champion Alex Rins and Stock Extreme champion Iván Silva, will not be racing in this competition after they have both proved that they have reached a high enough standard to make a step up onto the world stage of MotoGPTM. Rins has secured a seat with Estrella Galicia 0’0 in the debut of the new Moto3 category and Silva will ride for the newly formed CRT series with Avintia Racing on a BQR-FTR machine.
