This season marks a new era for the championship with revolutionary new technical regulations as full control has been put back into the hands of the riders. Electronic aids such as traction control, launch control and anti-wheelie have been removed whilst rev limits and a control Motec ECU have been introduced.
The new regulations are set to level the field and the reduction in cost is expected to enable new teams the chance to challenge at the front.

The Swan Yamaha team has today (Monday) confirmed that World Superbike sensation Noriyuki Haga will be completing their line-up for the 2012 MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship as he permanently replaces the injured Ian Hutchinson for the forthcoming season.

Fans’ favourite Haga is famous for his flamboyant riding style with much of his World Championship success in the past powered by Yamaha. Japanese ace Haga joins the MCE BSB Championship with the Swan Yamaha team following a record of 43 race wins in the World Championship, finishing runner-up in the title race on three occasions (2009, 2007, 2000) and securing third in the overall standings in an additional four seasons (2008, 2006, 2005, 2004).

The Splitlath Redmond Racing team have today (Sunday) confirmed their 2012 line up ahead of the forthcoming MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship season as John Laverty returns from injury and he is joined by former World Supersport contender Florian Marino.

John Dimbylow and former Olympic athlete Derek Redmond joined forces to become co-owners of the team and they unveiled their new line up at the MCN Motorcycle Show in London today (Sunday) as Laverty joined Marino on stage.

Laverty returns to racing this season after recovering from injuries sustained in a crash last season and is now eager to ride again after previously winning the British Superbike Cup and just missing out on the Showdown in 2010.
